Account origination & paid business

From cold outreach to a paid customer.

I identified a procurement contact at an Irish solar business and approached him directly. I developed the relationship through project discussions, product requirements and negotiations, securing an order that Astronergy was paid in full.

The assignment

Develop a new customer relationship, align the product and commercial requirements, and keep the business moving through production and delivery difficulties.

My role

I owned the customer relationship and worked with Astronergy’s teams in Germany and China across procurement, production, logistics and accounting.

The work behind the business

Explore the stages and original correspondence.

01/January 2024

I turned an initial approach into a project discussion.

I identified a relevant procurement contact and followed up with information about Astronergy. The discussion developed into a meeting and a request for a quotation against a defined solar project.

Result

A buying contact, project requirements and a request for an offer.

02/February–July 2024

I worked through the obstacles to a purchase order.

When a specification change threatened progress, I involved the Head of Projects and returned with revised commercial terms. I continued developing the account while the customer awaited its planning decision.

Further discussions and a meeting at Intersolar led to agreement on product details, price, delivery and payment terms. I aligned the quantity with full containers; the customer confirmed 17 containers and issued its order.

Result

9,792 modules ordered, representing approximately 6.22 MWp.

03/July–October 2024

I kept the customer and internal teams aligned.

I pursued production while the customer finalised its receiving arrangements. When payment documents were needed during colleagues’ holidays in China, I sought help in Europe and coordinated with the customer’s accounts team.

When delivery slipped, I challenged the shipping updates and instructed the logistics team to explain the delay directly to the customer.

Result

Continuing ownership across production, payment documentation and logistics.

04/October–November 2024

The order was paid, and the account remained active.

The deposit had been received. The customer processed the remaining balance in two payments, and on 10 October I confirmed receipt.

The customer subsequently returned to discuss future supply and a longer-term pricing arrangement.

Result

€727,545.60 paid to Astronergy, followed by further supply discussions.
