Strategic account development

A developed account the company could take forward.

I developed a senior-level referral into an active relationship with a UK renewable energy developer. I met the customer at Intersolar, managed the NDA process and qualified future requirements. I also arranged and attended the UK meeting with the customer and Astronergy’s team.

The assignment

Turn an introduction into a substantive account: a working procurement relationship, permission to exchange information and access to the right company teams.

My role

I coordinated legal review in China, the European signing process and direct introductions to project and global leadership, keeping the customer relationship active as the process developed.

01/2024

I turned a senior referral into a procurement discussion.

My initial engagement with the Managing Director for Global Supply Chain led to a referral to the solar procurement manager. Following our call, the buyer supplied an NDA and information about the business’s pipeline and roadmap.

I also met the customer in person at Intersolar as part of developing the relationship.

Result

A direct procurement relationship with a defined route for further discussion.

02/July–August 2024

I managed the internal process through to a signed agreement.

I coordinated legal review in China and the European signing process, then pursued the countersigned copy from the buyer. Once returned, I circulated the completed NDA internally so the company could proceed with the relationship.

Result

An NDA signed by both parties and shared with the relevant internal colleagues.

03/August 2024

I established where further procurement discussions could be relevant.

With the NDA in place, I asked for the company’s pipeline and purchasing outlook. The procurement manager clarified potential demand by market and the limits of visibility for the following year.

I also involved headquarters in planning a possible visit to China.

Result

Information on future requirements and a working route into headquarters.

04/September 2024

I arranged and attended the UK meeting with the customer and Astronergy’s team.

I proposed a meeting with senior colleagues at a UK industry event. The buyer asked me to arrange it, and I coordinated availability, invitations and direct introductions to the Head of Projects.

I attended the UK meeting with the customer and Astronergy’s team, bringing the relationship I had developed into direct discussion with senior colleagues. I remained involved in subsequent discussions and coordination.

Result

A UK meeting I arranged and attended, direct engagement with Astronergy’s team and a relationship the company could continue developing.

About the figures and correspondence

This is an account-development case. The initial referral from supply-chain leadership, the meeting at Intersolar and Zach’s attendance at the UK meeting are confirmed by Zach; the supplied emails document procurement engagement and internal coordination. Subsequent China-visit proposals and further UK meeting arrangements continued separately. The outcome shown is a developed relationship, not booked sales. Pipeline volumes and contractual provisions are omitted.

Selected excerpts illustrate the work. Customer and colleague identities, contact details and selected commercial terms are omitted. The case forms part of Zach Kallergis’s wider renewable energy and technology experience.
